Everfond Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 July 2026
Everfond ("we", "us", "the app") helps you gently restore and revive cherished old photographs. We know these photos are personal — often of people you love, some no longer with us. This policy explains, plainly, what happens to your data when you use Everfond.
We built Everfond to be private by design. Your photos stay on your device wherever possible, and when a photo must be sent for AI restoration, it is processed and deleted quickly, never sold, and never used to train anyone's AI.
Who we are
Everfond is made by the Everfond Team. If you have any question about your privacy or this policy, contact us at [email protected].
The short version
- Your restored photos and memories are stored on your device, not on our servers.
- To restore a photo, we send it to our processing service, which forwards it to our AI provider (Replicate). The restoration job itself — what we send and the result that comes back — is removed within one hour. The copy of your file we upload is deleted as soon as your restored photo comes back — under two seconds, in our own measurements. Your photo is not used to train AI models.
- We do not build or store a faceprint or any biometric identifier of anyone in your photos.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- Subscriptions are handled by Apple and RevenueCat; we never see or store your payment card details.
- You can delete any memory in the app at any time, which removes it and its image files from your device.
What information we handle
Your photographs
When you choose a photo from your library, or take a photo of a printed keepsake, that image is the core of what Everfond works with.
- On your device: Your selected photos, restored results, and saved memories (including any name, era, or tags you add) are stored locally in the app's private storage on your device. We do not upload your memory library to our servers.
- During restoration: To restore or enhance a photo, the image is sent over an encrypted connection to our own processing service at
api.everfond.uk, which forwards it to our AI restoration provider (Replicate). The restored result is returned to your device and saved locally.
Photo library and camera access
Everfond requests access to your photo library (to choose photos) and your camera (to photograph printed keepsakes). We only ever access the specific photos you choose. We do not scan or index your whole photo library.
Saving a restored photo back to your library
If you ask Everfond to save a restored photo to your device's photo library, iOS asks you for a separate add-only permission. This is deliberate: add-only means Everfond can place a photo into your library but cannot read or browse the photos already there. It is not a promise we ask you to take on trust — it is enforced by iOS, and it applies even to the album Everfond creates. Saving is always something you choose, one photo at a time; nothing is saved automatically.
Sharing a photo yourself
Everfond can hand a restored photo to your device's own share sheet, so you can send it to family however you normally would. The photo goes directly from your device to whichever app you pick — it does not pass through our servers, and we are not told who you shared it with or whether you shared it at all.
Purchase and subscription information
Subscriptions and free trials are processed by Apple through the App Store and managed with the help of RevenueCat, which tells the app whether your subscription is active. We do not receive or store your credit card number or Apple ID password. RevenueCat processes a pseudonymous app-user identifier to keep your subscription status in sync.
Device and diagnostic information
We may process limited technical information necessary to operate and secure the service (for example, the type of request and whether it succeeded or failed). This is used to keep Everfond working and to prevent abuse.
App Tracking Transparency (ATT)
On first use, Everfond may ask, through Apple's standard prompt, whether you allow tracking across other apps and websites. You are free to decline, and Everfond works fully either way.
Feedback you send us
If you contact us through the app's feedback screen or by emailing [email protected], we receive the email address and message you provide, so we can reply and improve Everfond.
What we do NOT collect
- We do not create, store, or use faceprints or any biometric data of people in your photos.
- We do not require you to create an account or provide your name to use core features.
- We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
Our AI restoration provider (Replicate)
Everfond uses Replicate to run the AI models that restore your photos. This is important, so we state it plainly:
- The restoration job — the image sent for processing, the restored result, and the processing logs — is, per Replicate's stated policy, automatically removed within one hour.
- The uploaded file itself. To send your photo for processing we first upload it to Replicate as a file. As soon as your restored photo comes back, our service deletes that file — we measure it at under two seconds from upload to deletion. Replicate would also expire it on its own within 24 hours; we mention that because it is the real fallback if a deletion ever fails, not the usual path.
- Replicate acts as a data processor on our behalf and, per its policy, does not sell or share personal information and does not use your photos to train models.
You can read Replicate's privacy policy at https://replicate.com/privacy.
Because the restored result URL from Replicate expires within an hour, Everfond saves your restored photo to your device so you keep it — this is why your memories live on your phone, not on our servers.
How we use your information
We use the information above only to:
- Restore, colorize, and enhance the photos you choose.
- Save your memories on your device and show them back to you.
- Place a restored photo into your device's photo library, or hand it to your device's share sheet, when you ask us to.
- Keep your subscription status accurate.
- Respond to your feedback and support requests.
- Operate, secure, and prevent abuse of the service.
We do not use your photos or memories for advertising, and we do not sell them.
Legal bases for processing (EEA / UK users)
Where the EU or UK GDPR applies, we rely on:
- Performance of a contract — to provide the restoration and memory features you request.
- Consent — where you grant photo library, add-to-library, camera, or tracking permission (you can withdraw consent at any time in your device settings).
- Legitimate interests — to secure the service and prevent abuse, balanced against your rights.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal information. Because your memory library is stored on your own device, you can exercise many of these directly in the app.
Everyone can:
- Delete any memory (and its image files) directly in the app at any time.
- Revoke photo, add-to-library, camera, or tracking permissions in your device settings.
- Delete the app, which removes locally stored memories from your device.
If you are in the EEA or UK (GDPR / UK GDPR), you also have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, or object to processing of personal information we hold, and to data portability. Contact [email protected].
If you are in California (CCPA/CPRA), you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" — noting that we do not sell or share your personal information. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
To make any request, email [email protected]. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
Data retention
- On your device: Your memories remain until you delete them or delete the app. We do not control or access this storage remotely.
- In transit for restoration: As above — the restoration job is removed within one hour, and the copy of your file we upload is deleted within seconds of your photo coming back.
- Feedback and support emails: retained as long as needed to assist you and improve Everfond.
Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all photo processing requests, and API keys for our providers are held server-side — never embedded in the app. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children's privacy
Everfond is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact [email protected] and we will delete it.
International transfers
Our AI restoration provider (Replicate) processes data on servers that may be located in the United States. Where required, such transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards. By using Everfond to restore a photo, you understand the photo is sent for processing as described above.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Everfond evolves. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide notice in the app.
